World Book Day Thursday 4th March 2010

March 1, 2010

Quite rightly, many excellent novels will receive attention on World Book Day, but I’d like to recommend a poetry book, too. It’s written AND illustrated by a number of brilliant children’s poets, currently living, writing and visiting schools across Britain, and contains a rich variety of style and subject-matter. Buy a copy if you can – or order it from your local library: if you like poetry, you will not be disappointed.

It’s called SHOUTING AT THE OCEANpoems that makes a splash – written and chosen by Graham Denton, Andrea Shavik and Roger Stevens , and also including poems by Catherine Benson, Gerard Benson, Liz Brownlee, Jane Clarke, Sue Hardy-Dawson, Jan Dean, Michaela Morgan, John Rice, Rachel Rooney, Philip Waddell and Bernard Young.

Published towards the end of last year, 2009, by Hands Up Books
